Yes, a Scout group can host an Explorer unit on one of the four Scout subcamps. The Explorers would still take part in the Explorer programme.
Were pleased to be able to welcome a limited number of groups from Girlguiding who are members of the Durham North and Durham South counties. Places will be offered on a first come, first served basis and groups will need an appropriate camp license.
We’re welcoming Scouts and Explorers (between 10-18 years for international groups) from around the world to join us. Our Beaver and Cub programmes are limited to members of Durham Scouts.

If you’re a member of the staff team, then we’ll have a limited number of spaces for campervans and caravans – although, these won’t have electric hook-up facilities. If you’re camping in a sub-camp with a Beaver, Cub, Scout or Explorer group, then campervans and caravans are not permitted.
If your children are camping with you but aren’t part of a group who are taking part in the Beaver and Cub experiences, then they can access the Beaver and Cub programme on the Monday (Beavers) and Wednesday/Thursday (Cubs). This is on the basis that they are accompanied by an adult at all times and understand that the days are primarily organised for groups attending.
Yes, Children under 10 can come to Durham 2020, but you remainresponsiblefor them.

Young Leaders will need to be booked on as participants, so that they can enjoyall ofthe activities for the duration of the camp.

It would be unfair to young leadersnot to participate in any of theactivities, so all participants pay the same fee.
There is no limit on the number of leaders you can bring, however we will need help staffing activities. If there is an excessiveamountof leaders above the outlined ratios, we may ask you to help more often.

Yes, a permit is needed to attend Durham 2020. For Scouts, the minimum Nights Away Permit needed is Campsite Category. For Guides, you will need to complete the relevant modules for the Going Away Scheme.
There are no catering options for groups, however there will be food outlets topurchasefood from.

No, sorry, we’re not able to hire out tents / cooking equipment, etc and you’ll need to bring this with you. As part of our offering to international groups, we’ll partner them up with a local group who may be able to provide this equipment.
The site is part of a working farm, so it’s not possible forgroupsor staff to visit prior to the event.
You need to have a valid DBS for the duration of the camp and you can apply for a new DBS up to 6 months before it expires.
Yes, but you might not be able to move it during the duration of the camp, depending on where you are parked.
Yes! See the Beaver and Cub pages for more information. There is an exciting day visitor programme involving entertainment, activities and an opportunity to explore the site. A one night overnight experience for Beavers following on from a day visit and a two night overnight experience for Cubs.

International
Home hospitality allows Scouts to be welcomed into the homes and scout huts of Scouts in the area they are visiting. Moor House Adventure Centre, home to Durham Scouts will be available for before and after the camp for Home Hospitality, as well as Host Groups.
Host Groups will be from Durham Scout County and allows International groups the benefit of meeting new people and making friends. It means that you do not have to bring heavy catering equipment and tents with you.The host group will also normally cook for you for an additional fee.

International Groups can be picked up from Newcastle Airport,Durham TeesValleyairport,Durham Train Station or Darlington Train Station.

If you’re camping at one of our off-site venues (such as Derwent Reservoir), then there is no cost. You’ll be able to visit the Jamboree site but not camp there or purchase a catering package.
If you’re not able to join our full staff team but still want to volunteer as day staff, then there is no charge. As a member of the day staff team, you’ll help us deliver daytime programme but won’t be able to camp or purchase the staff catering package. There is no charge for this option.
